The work-life balance

We are always reminded of the work-life balance and it is not easy to achieve.

I try as much as I can to do the school run every day. It is not just because I get my daily exercise on the cargo bike but also because I get to see the boys interacting with their classmates.

I also get to speak to parents and the many residents of Eddington. I get to learn first hand the issues that concern them, because they also affect me.

As a working parent, the line between work and life is not straightforward but rather fuzzy.

I take calls while at the playground. I discuss ideas while I look at the children play. I reply to emails while on my phone. But I also listen to the community and their needs.

I should put a sign as “mobile office /open for business” when I sit down on a bench.

I think I am not alone in this balancing quest and I thank you for stopping by and saying “congratulations, it’s great to have you as our Councillor”. I will strive to represent you the best I can.
