My year as a local councillor

A couple of weeks after election, I organised a public meeting for the local residents of Darwin Green to bring the developer to account. Much has happened since then but issues with the developer still remain. Someone commented while walking in town that they had seen me and my fellow councillor Cllr Smith on the Daily Mail and they were proud we were doing what councillors are supposed to do, represent the best interests of the communities they represent. And that has been my motto for my first year as a local councillor and,

“represent the local community as best as I can and advocate for their best interests”

I have carried out surveys within the community, ask the local pharmacy for better services, applied and obtained £7000 for the improvement of the biodiversity at Histon Rec, asked to paint cycling marks by local playground at Eddington, spoke out about lack of school places for secondary schools in the area, organised a local event to celebrate International Women’s Day in the community, spoken to many residents to hear their concerns and see how best I can help them as one of their local representatives. This is why I am standing for re-election this year. I feel one year “on the job” is not enough to achieve everything that can be achieve in a four-year term. My journey has just started. We all want the best for our residents, we all want to make a difference.

Whatever your political believes, I urge you to come out on May 2 and vote.
